BBS at NAFSA

BBS Founder Christine van den Toorn participated in a delegation to the 2024 NAFSA conference, along with representatives from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office, the Kurdistan Regional Government, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, and IREX. NAFSA is “the world's largest and most diverse nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange, working to advance policies and practices that ensure a more interconnected, peaceful world today and for generations to come.”

At the conference, the delegation met with the CEO and Executive Director of NAFSA, Dr. Fanta Aw, as well as representatives from several U.S. universities and EducationUSA, and discussed the importance of developing partnerships between Iraqi and U.S. colleges to build capacity of Iraqi higher education institutions and facilitate scholarship-student exchanges.
