Baghdad Business School Launches 2026–2027 Annual Giving Campaign to Support the Class of 2027.
Baghdad Business School (BBS) continues its mission to empower young Iraqis with the skills, knowledge, and professional experience needed to succeed in Iraq’s private sector through its 2026–2027 Annual Giving Campaign.
BBS offers an intensive, one-year program that combines business education, professional English, and soft skills development. Since its founding, the school has graduated six classes, totaling 231 students. Of these graduates, 94% have secured employment in the private sector, including 15% have become entrepreneurs or business owners.
The Class of 2027 brings together 45 young Iraqis from diverse academic backgrounds, 66% of whom are women. United by their ambition to build successful careers, these students are developing the practical skills and professional competencies needed to contribute to Iraq’s growing economy.
The cohort includes students working full-time and part-time in various fields, such as graphic design, customer service, data analysis, and logistics. Some manage family businesses, while others come from medical and healthcare backgrounds, seeking to transition into new career paths. Other students are pursuing careers in high-demand sectors, including accounting, banking, telecommunications, marketing, and real estate. Abdullah, for example, joined BBS to strengthen his business management skills and gain the knowledge needed to establish his own real estate business. And, others are unemployed, looking for a way to start their business careers. Despite their different experiences, they share a common goal; advancing their careers and pursuing new opportunities in Iraq’s private sector.
“During my 15 years working in higher education in Iraq, I have witnessed the transformative power of quality education,” said Christine van den Toorn, founder of Baghdad Business School. “Students come into BBS unable to write a professional email and leave with job offers from leading companies or with their own businesses. Their success drives positive change for Iraq’s economy and society.”
Through its 2026–2027 Annual Giving Campaign, BBS invites individuals, organizations, and companies to invest in the next generation of Iraqi professionals and entrepreneurs. Contributions help fund student scholarships, educational programs, and essential operational needs.
Donors can also explore opportunities for recognition of their contributions through naming opportunities, commemorative plaques, social media acknowledgments, and recognition at school events.
By supporting BBS, donors help equip talented young Iraqis with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to build meaningful careers, launch businesses, and contribute to Iraq’s economic development.
