Baghdad Business School (BBS) Launches Annual Giving Campaign to Support Class of 2025
BBS offers a one-year intensive program in Business, Professional English, and Soft Skills, designed to equip young Iraqis with the knowledge and expertise necessary to thrive in the private sector. Since its founding, BBS has graduated four classes totaling 144 students, with an impressive 94% of graduates securing employment or launching their own businesses.
The Class of 2025 includes 59 young Iraqis, 53% of whom are female. These students are recent university graduates from diverse academic backgrounds, united by their goal to gain the skills needed to excel in Iraq’s growing private sector.
Among the new cohort are eight student-entrepreneurs with businesses ranging from electrical control panels to graphic design to legal services. One standout student, Suha, co-founded Fluffy Pet Grooming Mobile Services, a business created to address a gap in Iraq’s pet care market. Suha joined BBS to enhance her business skills and expand her company.
Other students aspire to careers in key sectors such as accounting, banking, telecommunications, and marketing. Muntadher, for example, joined BBS after completing an internship at a travel company to build expertise in data analysis for a career in this high-demand field. Additionally, some students are already employed—such as a driver at Careem and a Customer Care Agent at Baly—while others are seeking to begin their careers.
“During my 15 years working in higher education in Iraq, I have witnessed the transformative power of quality education,” said Christine van den Toorn, founder and manager at Baghdad Business School. “Students come into BBS unable to write a professional email and leave with job offers from leading companies or with their own businesses. Their success drives positive change for Iraq’s economy and society.”
BBS invites individuals, organizations, and companies to support its mission by contributing to the Annual Giving Campaign. Donations can be made toward scholarships, specific programs, or operational needs. Contributions can also be recognized publicly through naming opportunities on plaques, social media, and events.
